This part of of spain is one of the few remaining areas where tapas are still served with drinks free

of charge. You are surrounded by views of the stunning Sierra Nevada, often capped with snow in

the winter and February the ideal time for skiing. It is a paradise for walkers, with a wide variety

of flora and fauna and many mapped paths. Locally one can trek by horseback or just

walk to Greece or Portugal along the old pilgrim route!

Moorish architecture is abundant and signs of very ancient agricultural systems

are written all over the mountain-sides.

The most beautiful stretch of totally unspoiled coastline is a drive away to the east at the

Cabo de Gata. Here it rarely rains and the beaches are stunning with clear blue waters perfect

for diving or snorkeling. At Salobrena, at 40 minute drive away, one can eat freshly

caught and barbecued sardines at the beach side restaurants.

Granada is a legend in itself, quintessentially Spanish, both vibrant and ancient. The Alhambra

and Albaicin a must to visit. Because of limited tickets it’s essential to book in advance!
